Lunar Eclipse Over the Sacred Lagoon by Lorraine Brown

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Sun, Earth and Moon are in alignment with the Moon passing directly behind the Earth, and only occurs on a full moon. It is a time of balancing and celebrating the marriage of all that has been experienced. The sacred place of my birth.

My ancestors and family and friends along the way. My journey has been awesome and blessed, including challenges. I honour both the mystery (represented by the small lights) and the present, containing life-force and informing life. The place I have portrayed is about being with that beauty, grace and stillness.

A finalist in the 2013 NSW Parliament House Indigenous Art Prize

I come from the Gamilaraay language group. I grew up around Boggabilla and Toomelah NSW where there was so much natural beauty with the river, and broad open skies offering wondrous sunsets and luminous connective starry nights. I often would enjoy immersing myself in the beauty and love of being with family and nature. I came to know the unity in nature, and that nature nurtures and guides, and sustains a journey into creation and the mystery.
