Ceres Organics Organic Sauerkraut is a simple mixture of organically grown white cabbage and salt, made in Germany following traditional methods.
Lactofermentation is the process used for making this highly nutritious and yummy organic sauerkraut. Lactobacillus (a good bacteria) is commonly found on the surface of vegetables and fruits and when these vegetables are placed in a salt brine, the lactobacillus starts converting the sugars to a natural preservative called lactic acid. As the good bacteria multiply, nutrition is enhanced and the food is more easily digested.
After fermentation, Ceres Organics Organic Sauerkraut is pasteurised to eliminate any alcohol and bad bacteria. Beneficial acids from the fermentation process remain, resulting in a tasty organic sauerkraut that adds delicious crunch to sandwiches and salads or as a side-dish for any meal. Keep refrigerated after opening.
